May I be random on a Tuesday?

  • I hate calling people. I HATE calling people. I don't know why. I generally like my fellow human beings. I even like talking to them. But picking up the phone and dialing ... so hard.
  • I gained an extraordinary amount of weight this time around. I've lost twenty-one pounds. Thirty-five to go. I will be wearing maternity clothes til approximately Christmas. Oy vay.
  • I really love sugar.
  • I really hate not eating it.
  • If anyone figures out the best time to exercise that doesn't require waking up early, let me know.
  • I don't like it when people who are not dear to me call me "dear." And even then, I'm not so sure.
  • Naps are divine.
  • I'm totally obsessed with my children.
  • I never let myself go to the bathroom. It seems like such a waste of time. I usually end up making it an award of sorts: "As soon as you're done with this email, you may go." "Once the dishes are done, swing by the bathroom." "You can't relieve yourself til you finish this chapter." WHY DO I DO THIS?!
  • I'm feeling absolutelyamazinglymiraculously fabulous, despite the extra 35lbs. Am I in for an equally magnificent letdown?
  • I wish I had a million dollars.
  • The end.

The bathroom thing? ME TOO. I think it's because for almost nine months you HAD TO go all the time. Now you can tell yourself you'll do it when you're good and ready. Love that.
Also, with exercising in those first. . . months? I need an exercise that doesn't require me to. . . move, basically. The nursing, you know.

I am with you on the "dear", "sweetie", etc.

The twins broke the "full" meter in my bladder. Now, the only reason I ever go to the bathroom is because I remember that it's been a while. Otherwise, I can't feel it. And if I haven't been in a while, and I laugh or cough or sneeze unexpectedly, or in the wrong position, well, it's just not pretty. So I go whenever I think about it.

Wow. TMI.

I so with you on the hating to call people thing. My issue is that I have a vivid imagination and I can just imagine what I might be interrupting. Despite my egomaniacal blogging I'm quite uncertain socially and I don't think I'm worth interrupting people over, you know?

As for the bathroom thing, I'm totally the opposite. I go the second I realize I can because water weight weighs the most and I think, hey, every time I pee I'm losing weight! So for me, peeing is exciting in away. Kind of sad, eh?

awesome for you feeling great despite the extra weight you say you've still got. oh how i wish i could feel that way about my extra baby weight, which i might add, has been around for 10 months... and wait, i lost 20 of it at first... but put 10 back on. awesome. help! move to utah and we can work out anytime but early morning. because yuck, i am not a morning person. maybe that's my problem? haha

i gained 43 pounds with mae, 50 pounds (!!) with penny. i've lost 40 so far, 18 of which i've had to really work for. i have 10 to go until prepregnancy and then another 13 pounds i gained with the miscarriage/holidays.

i wish you were here so we could exercise together. the only way i've found it to work for me is to take all my kids with me. that's a lot more difficult for you. i have seen triple strollers. i know, sounds awful. but early morning has never really worked for me.

good luck. come do the triathlon with me!

Proof once again that we should be friends.

1. Calling people? Me too. I love people and love talking to them, but I can't stand phones. When I left my phone behind on our mini vacation last week, I sort of did an inner jump-for-joy. Didn't miss it. Pretty much hate it. I don't get it, either.

2. I also gained a ridiculous amount of weight. I also have 30 lb to loose. I'm also off the sugar to try to help. We can cheer each other on!

3. I am also totally obsessed with my children. And totally obsessed with my husband. The whole family thing. Yes. My favorite.

4. I also hate it when people call me 'dear' - but even worse is when they call me 'hon'. But I absolutely LOVE it when someone calls me 'kiddo'. I had a boss that called me Kiddo once. Loved it. Loved her.

I love love love your blog. Sometimes I read it aloud to Bill so he can laugh/cry/huh! with me. And I love love love the newest addition to your family. What a DEAR! (snigger snigger) No - actually, he looks like he's a complete sweet heart.

Oooooh my gosh, I just laughed out loud. That is all. Oh, and the 'I wish I had a million dollars' thing makes me think of 'It's a Wonderful Life', where George walks into Mr. Gowers' store and hits the lighter thingy and says 'I wish I had a million dollars...HOT DOG!' :)

P.S. I also never go to the bathroom hahahaha, it's like one of the most annoying things ever. Waste of time.

I hate calling people too. Especially people that I don't know REALLY well. And cold calling? Hardest thing ever. Don't know why.

I gained the most with my 4th too. And then it took way too long to lose. I'm still working on it and he's 18 months. That wasn't encouraging though, was it? Hmmm.

Also, as much as I love food, eating is such a waste of time to me. On the days that I don't eat (fasting, or I just forget, which also happens) I wonder how my day got so much longer. And I realize, it's because I never ate.

So, is that why you never called me back after I called you once you had the baby?

Love sugar, too. And naps. And my kiddos. I feel great, too. It's been a month and I still feel good, albeit a little tired. And I also want a million dollars. I promise to share with you if I get it.

Weird about the bathroom. Very weird, indeed. But I still like you.

I was trying to think of some thing I make myself wait for like you and the bathroom. Then realized I do it with good blogs. When I see that some of my favorite people have posted, I wait to read their blogs last. I'm definitely a "save the best for last" person.

And yes, yours was the last one I read today. xoxo

Your post reminds me of conversations I once had in my head about 10 years ago.
My kids are older now so now my conversations in my head are a little different...except this one piece..
I never let myself go to the bathroom...still.

I once had a roommate who, like you, thought peeing was a total waste of time. And then there was a different roommate who thought there was nothing quite like a successful bowel movement.

You're freaks, the lot of you!

(Bless your hearts.)

Everything you just said really made me smile...No surprise there.

Sugar is like the best thing on earth. Ask my son, he's only 4 but he already knows that getting sugar is worth whatever sacrifices necessary...but if you lay off the sugar, you'll surely lose your baby weight. The end.

Is it really 4pm and I haven't peed since I woke up at 6:30am?!? If I'm this way and I don't have kids, I shudder to think what children will do to me!

If I had a million dollars I'd buy you a monkey (haven't you always wanted a monkey?)You always make me smile.

Julie said...

I wish you had a million dollars, too, and not only because you know when my birthday is.

I can really relate to some of these- especially the first!

I would love, love, love for you to discuss the mommy-weight-issue. But only if it takes you more than one week to "get back in [your] jeans" (make that a few years in my case). You have a very great way of being totally open about topics some people feel awkward voicing...and I, for one, am a huge fan. (Also I, for one, do not have half the guts you do. I must live vicariously through your guts, and leave a hearty 'amen' after your posts.)

Sophia's almost 4, and I weigh more than I did right after I had her. I can't figure it out. (And I am being serious...because I have been so freaking good for 3 months now, haven't dropped a single pound.)

And I hate calling people, too. That's what email is for.

Becca said...

Hahaha. I am the same. Especially about calling people. What is my new calling at church? Compassionate service person...and we have lots of pregnant women in the ward including one with 6 kids pregnant with twins and on bed rest. I will be calling people until the end of summer. And by then we will have more pregnant women.

Not that I can complain too much. I just had a baby and got meals and stuff. But no complications for me.

Me too, regarding the phone, sugar, naps (oooh, naps) and the million dollars. I am totally with you on the "dear" from non-dears. It is completely condescending.

Regarding the peeing: BE CAREFUL. I'm going to be your worry-wart grandma-type now. I used to hold it all the time. Now, if I don't go right when I feel the need, I end up getting a bladder infection. You can't hold that stuff in you for too long, DEAR. It's unhealthy. :)

Becky, you are hilarious. It's amazing how many of these rang true--esp. the bathroom thing (seriously, I should not treat it like a reward, but I do) and the exercise thing. I told myself I'd start working out regularly as soon as Brandon started sleeping through the night. Weeeellll....I'll start next week.
