So.
Soooooooo.
{Did I just hear crickets?}
Oooo! I know what to talk about!
I turned THIRTY.
see that there? that's my st. patty's day shirt. 'cept it says "lucky lass," so I can wear it every day of the year
Confession. I've been wanting to be 30 for a long, long time. I've been telling people I'm "turning thirty" for at least five years.
I think it's cuz people ALWAYS think I'm younger than I am. And it bugs.
As a newlywed, working in a dental office, a patient once asked me why I wasn't in school. As in, HIGH school.
I (not very sweetly) informed her I was a college graduate.
Another time, I was on a plane where all the people younger than 15 were given free headphones. I got one. I was 22.
I've been mistaken for my younger brother's girlfriend more times than either one of us care to recall. He is ten years younger than me.
I once took a group of teenagers to the pool, only to be told we needed an adult with us to swim. I had to produce my drivers license to prove it to the guy that I was, indeed an adult.
Thankfully, now that I'm a little older, and a little fatter, and actually do my hair now, it doesn't happen quite as much. But the past still rankles.
So now - finally! - I can enter the ranks of REAL. ADULTS. (Twenty somethings are only faking it, you know.)
In celebration, my husband and mom threw me a surprise birthday bash. It was awesome. And I don't have a single picture to prove it. Sorry.
Happy Birthday to me!

Yay for 30! I really liked turning 30. It's been the birthdays after that that have been slightly depressing.
Happy (belated) Birthday!
My 2 nieces were on a plane together. The flight attendant told the 13 year old to make sure she put on her own oxygen mask before helping her little sister. Her "little" sister is 16.
Be grateful. When we are all old wrinkly witches who have only our Senior Citizen discount to content ourselves with, you'll be looking not a day over 50 and eating cheap at Denny's to boot!
Happy Birthday. You're such a baby. Now I feel like a grandmother. :)
Your 30 attitude is refreshing. I need to get me one of those. . . .
Happy birthday! Looking younger is not so bad. You will be grateful in a few more years! :)
I was excited to turn 30 for the same reasons. (happened this year too!) Right after I had my first baby, my mom took me to the doctor cause I couldn't drive yet and one of the tech's asked her what she thought about her teenage daughter having a baby. I was 22!! Welcome back by the way:)
Yay for being mistaken for a teenager...I wish! :) Happy Birthday!
I totally get it! I was thrilled to turn 30 for the same reason.
People who want to look young don't understand that looking TOO young makes it so you aren't taken seriously. I tell myself I'll love it when I'm 65 and look awesome, but even now (I'm staring 40 in the face), it's still a bit annoying.
I've even been mistaken as my SON'S SISTER. And no, I didn't have him when I was a teenager.
Happy 30s!
HAPPY 30!! I loved when I turned 30 too... I like when people know I'm an adult finally (well at least on paper I'm an adult -- I don't always act like one) :)
