Last week we learned about
MEMORIAL DAY
MEMORIAL DAY
(follow links for instructions)
We made pinwheels
We ate American Sundaes (vanilla ice cream with blueberries and raspberries)
We had a parade with paper plate maracas, tin can drums, and toilet paper roll kazoos.
We learned about various wars and acted out some battles (Little Prince makes an excellent George Washington)
And we made artwork and put together a package for our fighting soldiers.
(Pssst. I know Memorial Day is over, and you could have used this information LAST week. But hey! It's all very repeatable for the 4th of July!)
Next week: Pioneers

Sweet! I love the pinwheels!
Hmm...mayhap I could Canadian-ize this idea...I especially love the parade. My girls would go nuts over that!
There's really nothing better than a toilet paper tube kazoo.
Wars and battles? Sounds like a great energy release!
Oh my gosh, please stop. This is actually hurting my parenting eyes because there isn't enough energy on the planet for me to tackle even one of these projects. You MADE PINWHEELS? No one is that American. You lived abroad for way too long.
(In case you missed it amid the sarcasm, you totally rock.)
awesome!
I tried to comment yesterday about how much I adore this idea. I'm working on our summer schedule, and I'm at least stealing the theme idea, because it is brilliant.
I don't know if we'll be motivated enough to make pinwheels, but we just might try!
You rock.
