Surviving Summer

My kids don't do "idle" well. When they have too much free time, my house (and my head) tend to explode.

So this summer, I'm taking evasive action.

Each week I came up with a theme. Each theme has a craft, an activity, an outing, a recipe and a service project. We're not super-rigid-schedule-y about it; if I get to them all, great. If not, whatever. But there will be no boredoms this summer.

I will post the previous week's activities every Monday.

Feel free to steal, improve upon, elaborate or ignore.

I don't know what I love more, the concept or the button. Ooo...purrrdy button...

I'm such a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants'er that I can hardly wrap my head around this concept of planning to prevent boredom but I just may be one of the moms eagerly awaiting each weeks' post so I can brazenly steal your ideas.

You clever thing, you.

I'm ready for school to be done, but I'm stressed about entertaining all summer.

I totally agree with your idea. After 1 week of no school and no plans and a 4 week old newborn on my hands, I quickly realized we just weren't going to make it without a plan. I decided we'll run the place like preschool with a theme, crafts, and as rigid as this may sound, a "curriculum". But, hey, it works.

I'll be checking back to see what awesome ideas you're using 'cause I'm about as creative as a piece of cardboard. Thanks for sharing!

LOL, Kim! It is a very cute button. I know what I will be doing this Summer. School, school, school. I think my kids are liking their latch key status! :)
